UCL11 Series.
On-glaze Low Lead Enamel Pigments.

Our range of intermixable low metal release on-glaze pigment is suitable for indirect and direct applications using both conventional and fast firing cycles.

Our range of on-glaze colours are made from a compatible glass system and is therefore fully intermixable within the parameters detailed below. In addition, Mixing Flux UCL1100 and Mixing White UCL1127 can be used to obtain both an extensive colour palette and a wide range of pastel shades.

Gold Colours.
Please note that the gold colours included in the range and are fully intermixable within the normal limitations.

Cadmium Colours.
Within the standard range we have five cadmium colours UCL1104, UCL1101, UCL1102, UCL1105 and UCL1103 which are fully intermixable with each other. However, intermixing cadmium and non-cadmium colours is not recommended without extensive end user trials.

Complementary Colours.
We have produced four complementary colours to the standard range. UCL1126, UCL1128, UCL1129 and UCL1119 are intermixable with the standard range. However, these should always be used in the majority proportion. Again end user trials are recommended.

Note on Firing. For conventional firing cycles of 4 hours or above, the following temperatures are recommended
Earthenware: 700°C - 780°C
Bone China: 740°C - 800°C
Porcelain: 760°C - 830°C
Vitreous China: 740°C - 800°C
Faster firing is achieved at higher temperatures with the optimum firing conditions depending upon body and glaze criteria.

Chemical Durability.
Dishwasher durability is tested by immersion in a 0.5% Calgonite solution at 78°C which is an accelerated alternative to 500 consecutive dishwasher cycles. The results show no appreciable deterioration of colour or gloss after 36 hours exposure.
Metal release is tested by immersion in 4% acetic acid at 22 ± 2°C for 24 hours in accordance with DIN 51031 1986. Results are typically less than 0.3 mg Pb/dm² and 0.03 mg Cd/dm².
Dishwasher durability and metal release generally improve as firing temperatures are increased within the ranges indicated.
